Gardening – May edition

My flower gardens are in full growth stage. The clematis are in full bloom on one of the plants in the backyard. I have four more plants so hoping they will all bloom this nicely.

My aunt gave me bleeding heart plants last fall which I planted. I was able to plant three bushes and they are just finishing blooming.

Bleeding Hearts (Dicentra spectabilis)

Last weekend I was able to plant my vegetable garden. I started some of my plants indoor this year. I was able to get plants started for my tomatoes, broccoli, and cauliflower. The peas, beats, and carrots did not work out to well when I tried to plant them inside. I also planted spinach, lettuce, pumpkins, spaghetti squash and some mystery seeds. I had onions come up from last years planting. Realize now that you plant onions and garlic in the fall.

I just received yesterday some blubs from an order I made to Vesey’s Bulbs from my niece. They are Mexican Shell Flower (Tigridia pavonia), Gladiolus (Gladioli), and Persian Buttercup (Ranunculus).  I will be planting them tomorrow night. They are the first set of flower that I have to dig up the blubs in the fall and replant in the spring.
